The itinerary

    Day 1

    Arrival in Kathmandu(1,350m)

    Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly greeted by our representative, who will assist you with your transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for relaxation, allowing you to unwind after your journey. If you wish, you can explore the vibrant Kathmandu Valley, known for its historical temples, bustling markets, and rich culture. You may visit landmarks like Thamel or Durbar Square, or simply relax and prepare for your exciting journey to Janakpurdham the following day.

    Day 2

    Drive to Janakpurdham (68m)

    After an early breakfast, we begin our scenic drive from Kathmandu to Janakpurdham, a journey of approximately 6-7 hours. As we leave the bustling city behind, the drive takes us through the beautiful Terai plains, passing by small villages, lush farmland, and rivers. Upon arrival in Janakpurdham, you will check in to your hotel and have some time to relax. In the evening, you can take a leisurely stroll around the city, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and enjoying views of the surrounding area.

    Visit Janaki Temple & Sita's Birthplace

    After breakfast, the tour begins with a visit to the iconic Janaki Temple, dedicated to Goddess Sita, the central figure in the Hindu epic Ramayana. This beautiful temple is one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in Nepal, and you will have the chance to explore its stunning architecture and learn about its religious significance. From there, we proceed to Sita’s Birthplace, a sacred site where it is believed that Goddess Sita was born. The area is marked by a lovely garden and offers a peaceful atmosphere perfect for reflection and learning about Sita’s connection to the region. Afterward, enjoy some time to relax before the next leg of the tour.

    Visit Ram Mandir & Explore Mithila Art

    On day four, we visit the Ram Mandir, dedicated to Lord Rama, another important figure in the Ramayana. This temple stands as a tribute to his righteousness and valor and offers insight into the deep spirituality of Janakpurdham. Following our visit to the temple, the afternoon is dedicated to exploring the fascinating world of Mithila Art, a local art form that is known for its intricate designs and vibrant colors. You can visit local workshops, meet the artists, and purchase paintings and handicrafts that showcase this unique cultural heritage. Afterward, enjoy the evening at leisure, perhaps exploring the local markets and experiencing the daily life of Janakpurdham’s residents.

    Visit the Vivah Panchami Festival (Seasonal)

    If your visit coincides with the Vivah Panchami Festival, we will take part in this grand celebration, which marks the wedding of Sita and Lord Rama. The city is beautifully decorated, and large processions take place, with music, dance, and traditional rituals. If not during the festival, we will still spend the day immersing ourselves in Janakpurdham’s rich cultural life, visiting local temples, and learning more about the city’s religious and historical significance. This day offers a unique chance to experience Janakpurdham’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage firsthand.

    Day 6

    Visit Local Markets & Enjoy Mithila Cuisine

    On the sixth day of the tour, we will explore the local markets of Janakpurdham, where you can shop for Mithila paintings, traditional handicrafts, and locally made products. The vibrant market atmosphere offers a glimpse into the daily life of the people of Janakpurdham, and you can interact with locals, learning about their customs and traditions. During this time, you’ll also have the opportunity to sample Mithila cuisine, which includes dishes like dal bhat (lentil soup with rice), momo (dumplings), and sel roti (traditional sweet rice doughnuts). These local delicacies are a treat for the senses, giving you a taste of the region’s rich culinary traditions.

    Return to Kathmandu

    After breakfast, we begin our journey back to Kathmandu, retracing our scenic route through the Terai plains. The drive offers a chance to reflect on the experiences of the past few days as you travel back to the capital city. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will have some free time to relax, shop, or explore any remaining sites before your departure. Depending on your schedule, you may have the opportunity to visit any last-minute attractions or enjoy some leisure time in the vibrant city before concluding your Janakpurdham Day Tour.
